WHAT TO EXPECT

Check-in 15 minutes prior to your scheduled tour time. If you do not make your check-in time, there are no late admissions or refunds for late arrivals.
Allow 2.5 Hours
The main tour takes a minimum of 2.5 hours to complete. If you add on the Salt Safari or Lantern tour the tours may take in abundance of 3.5+ hours.
HANDICAP ACCESSIBILITY
General underground admission and the dark ride are handicap accessible. The train ride, salt safari and lantern tour are not. For more information, contact us.
Frequenty Asked Questions
The Salt Blast Pass (main tour) takes 2.5+ hours . The Combo: Salt Blast Pass + Salt Safari takes 3+ hours. If you add on the Lantern tour, it adds another hour to your adventure.

The tours are self-guided and self-paced, but there will be a train conductor and docents along the way to answer questions and take you on tram rides.
Children under the age of 4 are not permitted on the underground tour for safety reasons.
The museum itself is underground, and guests are taken down on scheduled tour times. The last tour of the day is at 3pm, however once underground the museum itself is open until 5pm. The tour takes about 2.5 hours. For more time in the museum, we suggest picking an earlier tour time.
No, we do have vending underground that serves light snacks and drinks.
No, to help preserve the salt floors we do not allow food or drinks down in the salt mine.
You are able to take both your purse and your cell phone underground. We highly encourage guests to use our storage lockers across from the bathrooms to store their belongs while you venture underground.
For the safety of all guests, hard hats must be worn at all times underground. The only exception is when you are in the event center, at which time a docent will instruct you whether you can remove your hard hat.
It is a nice 68 degrees all year round underground.
While we don’t have a strict shoe policy on the general tours, we do suggest wearing something that is comfy and sturdy. It is a salt mine after all, and you may tend to get a little dusty and dirty down there.
The Train is not handicap accessible. Guests need to walk unassisted approximately 30 feet to board the train.
Both the Dark Ride and Salt Safari Shuttle ARE accessible, permitting guests can self transfer to board each ride.
Part of the entire tour is the hoist, which takes 90 seconds to travel 650 feet underground. Otherwise, the rest of the tour is in a large open space.
Absolutely, the Museum is very well lighted. Otherwise, the tours that go into the mine have either flashlights or flood lights that light the way.
The gift shop is located underground.
The Museum recommends that all of guests reserve tickets. It is not required but it secures your visit. Without your reservation, you may not be able to get on the next available tour.
Though we welcome walk-in’s, a reservation gets you on a reserved tour time. Some days we may be closed for a special event, maintenance, or weather related delays.

Yes, the Museum has two sets of restrooms underground. One set of restrooms near the hoist underground and the other set across from the gift shop.
Yes, all guests are required to watch the safety video before they go underground.
All day admission pass at Cosmosphere is equivalent to Strataca’s blast pass. The guests receives $5 dollars is off their admission to the second location.
