Venture deep into the untold secrets of Strataca. Experience a thrilling subterranean quest unlike anything you’ve seen before, in the raw, abandoned areas of the mine. Are you ready for the challenge?

Participants must be at least 13 years of age; 17 and under must be accompanied by someone who is 21 or older. Maximum two teenagers per adult.
Advance reservations are required and may be made online. Salt Safari will be offered on select Saturday afternoons at 1:00 ending about 4:00 with a limit of 20 participants. (Effective March 1, Salt Safari will start at 12:00 Noon and end about 3:00 pm.)
Each participant will be issued a hardhat with attached miners light and a self-rescuer attached to an adjustable belt. Use of both will be explained during orientation.
Each participant will receive a special backpack to keep, containing a bottle of water and a snack bar.
No flashlights – light source will be provided.
A waiver will be provided at orientation and must be signed at that time. You can review the waiver below.
Due to the extreme nature of this excursion, there are some physical requirements. You must be fit enough to hike for 3 hours in the dark with limited light on uneven surfaces with loose materials. Restrooms will not be available for approx. 2 hours.
You are ineligible for this adventure if you have any of the following conditions:
- Heart Disease
- Uncontrolled asthma
- Knee/Hip/Ankle Problems
- Assistance needed for walking
The Salt Safari is not handicap accessible
- Long pants
- Short or long-sleeved shirt
- Hiking or walking shoes – must be closed toe and closed back
- Gloves are optional but recommended for time spent at souvenir rock piles
- A camera is allowed; no video or audio recording
No other supplies or equipment belonging to the participants will be allowed on the Salt Safari. Attire and belongings subject to search.
Strataca may cancel or postpone a scheduled Salt Safari due to mechanical or technical problems or other causes beyond their control, such as a power outage or a natural event not preventable by any human agency, such as ice, storms, or lightning. In the event of such a cancellation, STRATACA will provide participants the option of full refund or reschedule. In case of a natural event on the participant’s end that is not preventable by any human agency, such as ice, storms, or lightning, if notice is provided to STRATACA at least three (3) hours prior to orientation, the participant may reschedule, or may cancel and forfeit the $20 non-refundable fee. Reschedule must be done within 2 weeks and visit within 60 days.
